The place
Two villages on one freeway
"North Phoenix" means different things to different people. On the city's own map, the part along I-17 is mostly two urban villages. Deer Valley is the big one: about 57 square miles centred on the I-17 and Loop 101 interchange, next to Glendale and Peoria on the west. North Gateway sits above it, out toward the end of Loop 303.
The name Deer Valley goes back at least to 1921, when a federal land office map used it for the valley cut by Skunk Creek. The creek is still here, along with Scatter Wash, the Adobe Mountains, the Hedgpeth Hills and the Adobe Dam flood basin, which now holds a 1,514-acre county park. The Central Arizona Project canal crosses the village too. For a driver, those washes and hills are why some roads curve or stop where you would expect them to go straight.
The middle of Deer Valley, around the freeways, is offices, industrial buildings and apartments. Further out it turns into lower-density neighbourhoods. So up here you might book a weekday install in a business-park lot and a Saturday one in your own driveway. Both work.
Road work
What is being built on your commute
Three ADOT jobs sit right on north Phoenix commutes. Dates are as ADOT gave them to reporters; our freeway guide keeps the full list.
Loop 303 meets I-17
Today the 303 ends at a temporary at-grade junction with I-17 near Skunk Creek and carries on east as Sonoran Desert Drive. The project that began in late January 2026 builds real freeway-to-freeway ramps there and widens the 303 west to 51st Avenue, with completion set for 2028.
Loop 303, 51st Avenue to Lake Pleasant Parkway
The next piece west, widening to three lanes each way, was due to start in fall 2026. On its way to I-17 the 303 also runs past the TSMC chip plant, which is still being built out.
Loop 101, I-17 to 75th Avenue
About 6.5 miles of new lanes on the Agua Fria Freeway, west from the I-17 interchange toward Glendale, under way since September 2024 and due in spring 2027.
Torn-up shoulders and loaded haul trucks are where stone strikes come from. Note the freeway, the nearest exit and the time if one hits.
Business parks
Installs where you work
Deer Valley holds a lot of the Valley's working space: about 9.3 million square feet of offices and 11.9 million square feet of industrial buildings, by a 2013 count. Call centres, distribution buildings and light manufacturing mean big surface lots, and big surface lots are easy places to replace a windshield. Ask the site's front desk or security whether vendors may work in the lot, and tell us the gate or the building number.
Company vehicles are welcome too. Trucks and vans that live in a yard can be done there, one after another, as long as there is a flat spot away from forklifts and active equipment. Send the list of vehicles with their VINs and we quote each one.
Heat
Planning around 117 degrees
Deer Valley's record high is 117°F, reached on June 19, 2016 and again on June 20, 2017. On days like that, a few choices make the install easier on you and on the glass.
- Book the morning if the car lives outside. Glass that has sat in full sun all afternoon is hot to handle and slow to work with.
- An open garage, a carport or the shaded side of a warehouse beats an open lot.
- Leave the car closed with a sunshade up before we arrive, and run the air conditioning gently rather than blasting cold air on hot glass.
- If a monsoon storm is building over the Adobe Mountains, expect a call. We do not install in rain or blowing dust.
ZIP codes
ZIP codes we cover up here
Three Phoenix ZIP codes cover most of this corridor. On the Census Bureau's 2020 ZIP map, 85027 centres on Deer Valley Road just west of I-17, 85083 lies northwest toward 51st Avenue and Happy Valley Road, and 85085 runs north along I-17 toward the 303.
85086 is the one that confuses people. It covers Anthem and New River as well as a strip of north Phoenix. Anthem is its own community with its own page on bangautoglass.com, linked below, and we serve all of it. Tell us the street address and we will know which side of the line you are on.

North Phoenix questions
Ask us on our Phoenix line, (602) 782-5144, or by text at (877) 350-5962.
Is Deer Valley part of Phoenix or Glendale?
The Deer Valley urban village is part of Phoenix. It borders Glendale and Peoria on its west side, and the school district called Deer Valley reaches into both of those cities, which is where the mix-up starts.
Do you go up to Anthem?
Yes. Anthem is part of our Phoenix area. It has its own page on bangautoglass.com.
Can you do several company trucks at our yard?
Yes. Send the VINs and the yard address. We replace windshields and side glass on site, one vehicle after another, where there is a safe flat spot to work.
Deer Valley has hit 117°F. Is a summer install still worth booking the same day?
Summer is no reason to wait. Same-day appointments are available in most areas, depending on the glass your vehicle needs, though a slot on a given day is never certain. On a very hot day ask for the morning, and park in an open garage, under a carport or on the shaded side of a warehouse. Installs run Monday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm.
