Cost
What sets the price of a Phoenix windshield
Two cars from the same year can need very different glass. These are the features that move a quote up or down, and the reason we ask for the VIN when you have it.
- Camera
A camera behind the mirror
Lane-keep and automatic braking cameras need a bracket bonded to the glass, and a calibration after the install.
- Heads-up display
Speed shown on the glass
A heads-up display needs a windshield made to reflect the image without a double outline. It is a different part from the plain version.
- Sensors
Rain and light sensors
Automatic wipers and headlights read the sky through a gel pad on the glass. The new windshield has to carry the right mount.
- Comfort glass
Acoustic and heated glass
Some cars use sound-damping layers or a heated strip where the wipers park. We match what the car came with.
- Paying
Insurance or out of pocket
With full glass coverage on an Arizona policy, a windshield is often $0 out of pocket after we check the policy, and we help you file with GEICO, Progressive, State Farm, Allstate, USAA or whoever insures the car. Paying yourself, you get the quote before anything is booked.
- VIN
The fastest exact quote
The 17-character VIN at the bottom of the windshield, on the driver door frame or on your insurance card tells us every option your car left the factory with. Text a photo of it to (877) 350-5962.
Phoenix roads
Freeway work throwing gravel right now
A cracked windshield often starts as one stone chip. These are the ADOT projects with active work zones in 2026, where loose material and haul trucks share the lanes with you.
| Project | Where | Timeline (ADOT) |
|---|---|---|
| Loop 303 and I-17 | New freeway-to-freeway ramps where Loop 303 meets I-17 in north Phoenix, and Loop 303 widened west toward 51st Avenue | Started early 2026, due 2028 |
| I-10 and Loop 101 | The West Valley interchange: an HOV bridge and wider lanes on both freeways | About three years from spring 2026 |
| Loop 101, I-17 to 75th Avenue | Widening across the north side of Glendale and Phoenix | Under way since 2024, due 2027 |
| Loop 303 extension | Van Buren Street south to SR 85 in Goodyear | About 2030 |
| SR-30 | A new freeway corridor south of I-10 in the West Valley | Construction scheduled 2027 to 2046 |
Closures change week to week. Check azdot.gov before a long drive through any of these zones.
The truck ahead
When a gravel truck drops its load
Arizona's load law, A.R.S. § 28-1098, says a vehicle must be loaded so that none of its load can drop, sift, leak or otherwise escape, and the load and its cover must be securely fastened. A 2024 amendment extended it to any highway, street or roadway, so surface streets count as well as freeways.
If a stone from an uncovered load hits your glass, write down the company name on the truck door, the truck number and where it happened, and take a photo of the chip with the date. We cannot advise on recovering the cost from the trucking company, but those notes are what anyone will ask for first.

Summer installs
A windshield install day in Phoenix heat
Phoenix set a record in 2024 with 113 straight days at 100°F or hotter. Most of the year that does not change how we work, but a few things help between June and September.
- Shade first: a carport, a covered apartment space or a garage with room to open both front doors.
- Book the first slot after 8am when you can. The morning is cooler for the technician and for the glass.
- Clear the dash and the area under the mirror so the technician can reach the camera bracket and the trim.
- Leave the car closed and the sunshade up until the technician arrives, so the old glass is not at full heat when it comes out.
- After the install, follow the technician's advice on the car wash and the windows for the first day.
- Monsoon season runs June 15 to September 30. If a storm or blowing dust is headed your way, we call to move the time.
The technician tells you when the car is safe to drive; there is no fixed clock, because temperature and humidity change it.

Camera calibration
New glass, then the camera
Many cars on Phoenix roads now carry a forward camera behind the mirror for lane-keep, automatic braking or adaptive cruise. After a new windshield, that camera is calibrated to the vehicle maker's specifications. We do it in the same visit where the procedure can be done on site, and we tell you before booking if your vehicle needs a different setup.
Calibration is included with the windshield replacement when your vehicle needs it. The ADAS calibration page covers how it works and which systems it affects.
Windshield questions from Phoenix drivers
Ask us on our Phoenix line, (602) 782-5144, or by text at (877) 350-5962.
How do I know if my crack needs a new windshield?
We replace glass; we do not repair chips. Arizona law (A.R.S. § 28-957.01) requires an adequate windshield and does not set a crack length, so the practical test is whether the damage sits in your view or keeps spreading. A crack that reaches the edge or grows after a hot day usually means replacement. Send a photo by text to (877) 350-5962 and we will tell you what we see.
Where can I get a cheap windshield replacement in Phoenix?
An honest price is one quoted for the exact glass your car needs. A low quote for a plain windshield can turn into a bigger bill on install day if your car has a camera or a heads-up display. Send the VIN, and if you plan to use insurance, let us check whether you carry full glass coverage. With it, a windshield is often $0 out of pocket.
Is OEM-quality glass the same as the glass my car came with?
It is made to the vehicle maker's specifications for fit, clarity and the brackets your features need. We match it to your vehicle by VIN, including any camera, sensor or heads-up display part.
Can you replace a windshield in a parking garage downtown?
Usually, yes. We need enough height for the technician to work and room to open both front doors. Tell us the garage name and level when you book, and check whether the garage allows vendor work.
How soon can you come?
Same-day appointments are available in most areas of Phoenix. Booking is open 24/7 online, and installs run Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
Does the warranty cover my new windshield?
Every install carries our lifetime workmanship warranty for as long as you own the vehicle. It covers our workmanship and defects in the glass we install. It does not cover new damage, like the next rock. Full terms are on bangautoglass.com/warranty.
